Intelligent design does research

In a recent letter, "Textbooks prove evolution" (Jan. 22), Professor
Jeffrey Shallit incorrectly stated that intelligent design "has failed to produce
a single peer-reviewed scientific publication outlining the theory." The
fundamentals of intelligent design theory are rigorously stated in The
Design Inference, by William A. Dembski. Published by Cambridge University
Press, the book is a revised version of Dembski's doctoral thesis at the
University of Illinois, Chicago. The book has thus gone through two
separate peer-review processes: one by Prof. Dembski's thesis committee and one
required by Cambridge University Press.
